Could you help to id this insignia? The only way for investigations I have is that my godfather served in the British marine during WWII. Is there any link?

The picture shows a WW1 Machine Gun Corps sweetheart badge. These were produced in large numbers covering all the various regiments and given by the soldiers to loved ones as a token of affection.
